Manufacturing Day officially occurs on the first Friday in October-this year it’s October 7th. But, celebrating manufacturing can occur any day during any month.
Pennsylvania will again honor manufacturing during the first week of October (October 1-7). The Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED) has designed PA Manufacturing Week to build upon the national Manufacturing Day initiative and showcase our state’s diverse manufacturing industry and robust support resources. They have developed a special website (click here) with information and resources for communities to get involved.
Manufacturer & Business Association will host their 2nd Mfg Day event at the Erie Bayfront Convention Center on Wednesday, October 5th. The event will feature an inspirational keynote speaker, 20-year old Easton LaChappelle, Founder and CEO of Unlimited Tomorrow.Visit www.eriemfgday.com for more information.
One of the goals of national Manufacturing Day on October 7th is to address common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show students what manufacturing is all about. Northwest Industrial Resource Center (NWIRC) is offering a minigrant to technical/vocational schools in 13 Northwest PA counties to offset expenses for taking students on their visits that day.
If you’re a manufacturer planning a tour or special event, whether public or invitation only, don’t forget to register your event at www.mfgday.com. There are also numerous resources there to help with planning.
