There are always opportunities to improve, streamline more processes, reduce more waste, and enhance team commitment. Northwest Industrial Resource Center (NWIRC) has upcoming programs to help.

A Lean Champion Certification course is scheduled for September 2016 and now is a great time to schedule because your company may qualify for a grant to cover a majority of the cost for your employee(s) to attend. The course will begin on September 7th and run on 4 consecutive Wednesday’s at Cross Creek Resort in Titusville, PA.

This program reviews the detailed principles of Lean with hands-on training and individual assignments pertaining to the participants’ manufacturing business. The course schedule includes:

Session 1: Principles of Lean Manufacturing, September 7, 2016, 8:00am-4:00pm

Session 2: Value Stream Mapping,  September 14, 2016, 8:00am-4:00pm

Session 3: 5S/Key Performance Indicators, September 21, 2016, 8:00am-4:00pm

Session 4: Setup Reduction/Kaizen/Kanban, September 28, 2016, 8:00am-4:00pm

The instructor for all sessions will be Craig Corsi, Lead Consultant with Vie Associates. Corsi is a manufacturing professional with more than 17 years of experience in the areas of operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

Manufacturer employees who are planning to complete all 4 sessions may be eligible for a Make It In America Grant via Partners for Performance for up to $1063 per individual towards the training costs. This grant is available to manufacturers in Erie, Crawford, Forest, Warren, Venango, and Clarion Counties.
