BACKGROUND:
Northwest Industrial Resource Center (NWIRC) is a not-for-profit organization that serves small and mid-sized manufacturers throughout northwest and north central Pennsylvania. Through a private and public partnership business model, NWIRC is driven by the impact our consulting and customized training solutions have on our client’s business, the manufacturing industry as a whole, and our regional economy. We help manufacturers achieve and sustain top and bottom-line growth through the implementation of next generation manufacturing strategies, world-class improvement methodologies and best practices, advanced manufacturing technologies, and customized workforce training and skill development programs. NWIRC was created in 1988 as part of a state-wide initiative, and is one of seven centers that serve manufacturers throughout Pennsylvania. As a strategic priority to increase our ability to effectively and efficiently serve our manufacturing clients, we are currently seeking a flexible, organized and adaptable team player with excellent oral communication skills and a desire to help others in support of our vision to be recognized and respected within the manufacturing community as the go-to resource for impact and to strengthen the manufacturing industry by facilitating positive, desired change.
OBJECTIVES:
The qualified candidate will utilize their exceptional ability to quickly build rapport with people and put them at ease to enhance your capacity as an effective communicator to conduct workforce and culture development trainings in individual and group settings of our manufacturing clients while meeting the requirements and objectives of NWIRC. Specifically, the successful candidate will:
- Lead in-person, classroom and virtual culture and workforce development trainings, such as basic workforce skills, communication skills, leadership skills, critical thinking, and others as qualified
- Assist the Strategic Planning & Culture Development Manager conduct projects with manufacturing clients
- Identify and report culture development trends within manufacturers’ environment
- Collaborate with stakeholders, partners, and companies to determine training and curriculum needs
- Consult with on-site managers and supervisors regarding performance improvement gaps
- Develop and recommend performance improvement and training solutions
- Establish methods of measuring business impact of performance and training solutions
- Tailor existing training materials for use with clients
- Seek to continuously improve capacity for delivering current and new trainings that meet manufacturers’ needs
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must possess strong oral communication and presentation skills acquired through a minimum of five (5) years of training individuals and groups in a business setting with a demonstrated record of accomplishments. A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Psychology, or similar is preferred, although can be substituted with substantial direct work experience. Prior work in a manufacturing setting is a plus. Additionally, the ideal candidate shall have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and virtual meeting platforms; excellent planning and organization skills; ability to periodically work flexible hours to meet manufacturer’s needs, and be willing to take initiative with great attention to detail.
