Apprentice Position Logo-01Northwest Industrial Resource Center (NWIRC) is searching for a qualified student to serve as an Electrical Engineering Apprentice for a company in Erie County.

Our client is seeking a qualified apprentice to work within the combustion department. Responsibilities are, but not limited to:

  • Building and testing electrical panels
  • Calculate Arch Flash boundaries and Short Circuit Current Ratings
  • Utilize Microsoft Visio to clean up drawings
  • Create training materials for new hires
  • Ensure all parts ordered are ready to install in panels
  • Gain understanding of programming from Allen Bradley and Honeywell
  • Gain understanding of the logic of flame safety

Candidates are required to be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, and shall be pursuing a four-year degree in Electrical Engineering and ability to work at the Erie County facility. The candidate must have the ability to understand motor control logic and read and understand ladder logic. Must be able to work with multi-meters and volt meters, have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Visio, and be able to conduct calculation for Arc Flash and Short Circuit Current Rating. Minimum required cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.The apprenticeship is available from January 2016 through May 2016 for a minimum of $12 per hour based on experience, knowledge, and skills. There is an opportunity for full-time employment following the apprenticeship.
