In his own words: Mitchell Stark, Quality Specialist, Advantage Sales & Supply Co.
What or who fueled your interest in manufacturing?
A manufacturing class that I had in college is what really sparked my interest. I had a professor in my manufacturing class that showed us how there are so many ways you can manufacture the same good to have different properties, appearances etc.
What is your current role in manufacturing?
My current role is quality manager which means I ensure the quality of all manufacturing processes. I also ensure that all goods meet the specifications and needs of our customers. I am a vital part of developing new manufactured goods and processes.
Describe your path to get to where you are today.
I attended Penn State Behrend for my bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and graduated in 2020. I started working at Advantage Sales as a quality engineer and then became the quality manager.
What is your Superpower?
My superpower is being able to figure out the root cause quickly and efficiently when there is a problem somewhere in the manufacturing of goods.
Why is your role important to others – like to customers or end users?
My role is important to our customers and end users because the quality of our lifting products, ensuring they will work, is the difference between people getting hurt or being a safe lift. All products we make for overhead lifting could have peoples’ lives at risk if they fail and that’s why it is so important to ensure they work correctly.
What do you think the future holds for your career or others you inspire?
I hope my future holds more growth and knowledge in manufacturing and I continue to learn more and expand on my current knowledge.
