Lean Manufacturing | Continuous Improvement
Lean Together™ - Peer Collaborative Workgroup
Maximizing the productivity of your team may be more difficult than ever before. Our Lean Together programs help your company create a culture of continuous improvement where everyone is working together, moving in the same direction, and making small improvements everyday! Through nine, 3-hour, monthly sessions – participants study and implement concepts from the book, 2 Second Lean, by Paul Akers during classroom discussion and facility tours.
5S System – The Visual Workplace
A foundational lean methodology that helps manufacturers create clean, organized, and efficient work environments by applying five principles: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain. Through visual cues and structured routines, teams reduce waste, improve safety, and build a culture of continuous improvement.
Running a Kaizen Event
This hands-on training guides manufacturers through the step-by-step process of planning and executing a successful Kaizen event to drive rapid, measurable improvements. Participants learn how to engage cross-functional teams, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions that reduce waste and boost productivity.
SME Lean Bronze Certification
NWIRC’s Manufacturing Excellence Professional Development Program prepares participants for the SME Lean Bronze Certification through hands-on learning, real-world problem solving, and in-depth coverage of lean fundamentals. The 6-week program culminates with a two-day exam prep and testing session, equipping attendees to earn nationally recognized credentials that validate their ability to drive operational excellence.

Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
Value Stream Mapping training teaches manufacturers how to visualize and analyze the flow of materials and information across their operations to identify bottlenecks and eliminate waste. Participants learn to create current and future state maps that drive strategic improvements in productivity, lead time, and customer value.
Mastering 5S and 8 Wastes
Gemba Walk training provides a comprehensive learning experience for manufacturing professionals seeking to enhance their understanding and application of Gemba principles. Gemba, a Japanese term meaning “the real place,” refers to the workplace where value is created. Schedule an onsite training for your team to understand the core principles and philosophy behind Gemba walks, learn to plan and conduct successful Gemba walks, analyzing Gemba walk data and observations, implement changes for process efficiency, and develop effective communication strategies for engaging with frontline employees.
