Kevin Smith, President of Vie Associates, was the instructor for the NWIRC’s ISO 9001:2015 Management Transition session at the Knowledge Center in Erie. All of the manufacturers attending today’s session were already certified in ISO 9001:2008 and looking to understand the changes with the new standard and things to consider when starting their transition. The audience included Owners, CEO’s, Presidents, Quality Control Managers, and Compliance Officers…many of whom are the internal auditors for their companies.
Smith noted that the new standard involves “integrating ISO with your real work”. He spoke about how there is a greater emphasis on leadership engagement and to “be sure management is aware of their expanded responsibilities for demonstrating visible leadership and accountability.”
