In his own words: Roman Jones, Student/Summer Employee, Jones Performance Products
What or who fueled your interest in manufacturing?
I’ve always had an interest in the way things were made and put together. My dad and grandpa’s business only fueled that.
What is your current role in manufacturing?
I don’t necessarily have a title. I have worked in many different areas of the shop, like running the CNC equipment, laying up the bracing, and tasks. Last summer, I worked in assembly (putting the bracing into the hoods).
Describe your path to get to where you are today.
I have been working at my dads shop every day of the summers since I was 11 years old.
What is your Superpower?
Learning new areas quickly. Every time I’ve been in a new department, I had to learn quick to make use of the time I had for the summer.
Why is your role important to others – like to customers or end users?
In the assembly department we put the inner structure in the hood. If the inner structure is off the hood won’t fit.
What do you think the future holds for your career or others you inspire?
I plan to go to collage and become a mechanical engineer to bring new skills and information to the shop. I encourage everyone to try and implement new ideas into their workplace.
