Today, Bob Zaruta, President/CEO of Northwest Industrial Resource Center (NWIRC) joined Lisa Adams for a taping of The Insider at the WICU/WSEE studios. Joining them were Ashleigh Walters, General Manager at Onex and Drew Walters, VP of Engineering & Construction at Onex. The Insider is a television program, hosted by Adams, that takes a closer look at what’s happening in the community. The discussion for the program taped today focused on how NWIRC helps small to mid-sized manufacturers in 13-counties of Northwest PA to grow, improve, and stay competitive. The Walters’ discussed working with the NWIRC on several previous projects to assist their manufacturing company in Erie, including a lean value stream mapping project and obtaining a STEM manufacturing intern. Since the program will air this weekend, a segment of the show also explains national Manufacturing Day coming up on October 7th and Pennsylvania Manufacturing Week (October 1-7), both geared to engage students and change the perception of manufacturing careers.
