What’s So Cool About Manufacturing is a student video contest among 7th/8th graders in Erie County. Twelve middle school teams are paired with a sponsoring manufacturer to be featured in their video– showcasing cool manufacturing jobs and career opportunities in our own backyard.

All of the teams, with their teacher coach, have been filming at the manufacturing companies over the last couple weeks and have also started the editing process. The teams and their partner manufacturer are:
City of Erie (Smith Provision); Fairview Middle School (American Turned Products);  Fort LeBoeuf Middle School (LORD Corporation), Harbor Creek Junior High School (Port Erie Plastics); Iroquois Junior High School (McInnes Rolled Rings); JS Wilson Middle School (Rehrig Pacific); North East Middle School (Seaway Manufacturing); RB Wiley Charter School (Onex, Inc); Saint Jude School (ISM); Walnut Creek Middle School (Finish Thompson); Westlake Middle School (Matrix Tool); and Corry Area Middle School (Viking Plastics).

The competition culminates with a 3-day online voting period for school videos at end of February, judging for other award categories, and an Awards Gala on March 8, 2018.

Please mark your calendars for February 26, 27, and 28- 2018 to vote for your favorite video at www.whatssocool.org. Also follow the journey on Facebook and Twitter @WSCMNW.
